Sprint Nextel offers the third largest US phone and data network with related calling plans and phones. Sprint also has a global Internet backbone and they have the first WiMAX network in place for high-speed data. They also sell under the Virgin Mobile brand.

The Sprint network is based on CDMA (versions 1xRTT and EVDO) in the 1900 and 2100 MHz bands. The Nextel network uses iDEN in the 800 MHz band, is being phased out.
